Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 7-inch to launch as Galaxy W in South Korea?
- A Samsung SM-T2558 cropped up last month as a 7-inch tablet that looked like a phone, leaving us wondering what Samsung was up to with the odd form factor. Well, it looks like the device could be the 7-inch variant of the Galaxy Mega 2 and could be launched as the Galaxy W in South Korea soon, according to a leaked brochure that was emailed to us. According to the brochure, the Galaxy W sports a 7-inch screen and comes with a “Phoneblet UX”, which includes a landscape mode and split-screen function, aka Multi-Window. The device is said to sport a Galaxy Note 3-like faux leather back, and will launch exclusively on SK Telecom.
- There’s no guarantee that the Galaxy W is indeed a 7-inch Galaxy Mega, especially since the phone seems to sport a menu button instead of the recent apps button that Samsung is using on all its latest devices. Specs for the SM-T2558 - a 720p display, quad-core 1.2GHz processor (probably a Snapdragon 400), 1.5GB of RAM,8-megapixel rear camera, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, and 8GB of storage expandable via a microSD slot – are quite similar to what we’ve seen on the original Galaxy Mega series, but factors like that menu button and the fact that the SM-T2558 was certified while running Android 4.3 certainly make for a confusing situation.
Here’s hoping more details pop up in the near future to clear things up.
